Hello from Melb Mara
RUNLY NEWSLETTER #130
Thurs Oct 9th 2025
This is not my usual long email update.
It's currently 5.45am, I've got a coffee in hand, and I am writing this update to you before heading off to the Melbourne Mara expo!
Let me tell you about bump-in day yesterday.
It doesn't matter how many times you bump-in to an event, it always finds a way to humble you (takes deep breath).
I have been so relaxed this week, which is a new feeling for me in race week.
There's just something about your hometown race that hits different.
But as I said, events will always find a way to humble you.
I'm short on time, so here's what we faced:
⚠️ We didn't realise until yesterday, but on our shipment back from Sydney Marathon, 40% of our displays got crushed (how?), so we've had to think on the fly.
💨 The wind is our biggest challenge. If you've ever walked around the 'G you'd know that it becomes a wind tunnel. Setting up yesterday was challenging, keeping our displays upright for the next four days will be a miracle.
😅 We bought brand new backdrop frames to save us a couple of hours in setup time. They did save us time! But we also broke one of them and have had to tape it up to keep it alive. Rough start to events life for the new frame.
I've got to get going.
If you're running - good luck!
Make sure you come see us :)
Run well,
Robbie
