Muddy hills, Gold Coast socks & a very small restock
RUNLY NEWSLETTER #149
June 18th 2026
Robbie here, Runly founder.
It's been an amazing couple of weeks at Runly HQ. Just over a week ago we released our brand new collection of running socks.
The reception has been incredible, and I feel really proud of it.
The socks themselves have been developed from the ground up. Everything has been meticulously considered and we sampled more than 40 different iterations.
One thing you learn in the game of creating performance products, is that 'better' doesn't necessarily exist.
And that might sound strange.
But in running (especially), everyone has incredibly different opinions, tastes, routines, running styles & preferences.
That's the beautiful thing about running.
There isn't just one way. Not just 'the best way'.
We're lucky to have options with performance products that suit our own needs.
So while I, or you, may think our running socks are better than another brand's, someone else might think differently.
And that's okay.
We spent the first two years of our existence trying our best to prove that our running vests were as good, if not more practical, than the existing legacy brand options out there.
It was a slog.
And I have learnt that some people whether rightly or wrongly, will prefer other products to ours.
Not because they're "better", but because they are better suited to them.
So based on that, the approach I took to designing and creating the performance socks were very specific.
First of all, above everything, the concept was to put the right material where it performs best on the foot.
Often you'll find a nylon blend used for running socks. It's a high performance blend. But often it's quite thin, and your foot can take a beating.
The performance socks incorporate cotton into the sole of the sock, which reduces the impact and provides additional comfort.
This is just one example of how we have considered the right material in the right position on the foot.
Oh by the way, in case you have missed it, we dropped a really unique "City Edition" sock pack in our new Performance Style. The first drop: Gold Coast:

This limited edition sock pack has been super popular, and there are still a handful left.

RUN FORREST RECAP:
Less than two weeks ago we head down the highway to Run Forrest. There's something about country races. They almost always have a great vibe and it's a little more relaxed than the big city runs.
If you've ever been lucky enough to take part in Run Forrest, you'll know it's an incredibly scenic, fairly secluded race amongst the Otways near the Great Ocean Road.
Crackling fire pits, friendly smiles, hot coffee and oven-roasted Pizzas set the scene in the race hub.
The race itself? Epic. There was one very, very muddy hill that went viral on social media. At any given moment 10-20 people trying to navigate, slide or tumble down a completely muddy and steep hill.
Probably a few minor injuries, but most importantly some great stories to tell over a coffee or beer at the finish line, and that's what it's all about.
Amongst the giant races like Sydney, Gold Coast and Melbourne, I will always recommend you venture out to some of the incredible races on offer in regional areas.
The experience is unrivalled.
GOLD COAST COMING UP FAST:
I don't know where the time has gone this year, how is it nearly Gold Coast Marathon time already?
I'm really excited this time around.
Last year, it was our first ever interstate event.
Logistics? A nightmare.
Sleep? Barely.
Community? Incredible.
I am really looking forward to getting back there this year. This time, more prepared, a better position in the expo and a bit more experience under the belt.
The next founder newsletter will be on the first day of the expo.
That's all for this week.
Run well,
Robbie
