Run For Respect, fresh socks & a big weekend ahead

RUNLY NEWSLETTER #141
Thurs Feb 5th 2026

You blink, and it's Feb already.

How did that happen?!

I know you're not shocked, but I have been busy. The start to 2026 has been beautifully chaotic.

Yesterday, when I realised I'd be writing this newsletter, did a very quick reflection on the start to 2026.

And I'm sure you're with me on this, it has gone so, so fast.

In January we hit the ground running, locking in many of our events for this year, with some still to play out. You can checkout an updated list here.

And speaking of, this Sunday we are heading down to our first event of the year - Run For Respect in Melbourne.

I am looking forward to it, I really am. Like many of you reading this email, I am addicted to running events.

For me, it is perhaps a little different. Most of the events I get to I am not running. We are activating the brand and interacting with the community. I'm technically working, but it doesn't feel like it (most of the time).

But I feed off the energy, the atmosphere. It's the cool mornings when everyone gets out of their car, leans back to stretch their back out and takes a big deep breath in, and out.

It's the smell of the coffee van setting up and serving the first customer. It's the sound of shoes warming up on the gravel side road.

The first sounds of the megaphone over the audio system, the first race gun going off, the excited supporters on the side of the course, seeing runners and friends embrace after a tough run.

That's what it is all about. There are many events all over Australia, New Zealand, and the rest of the world being run every single weekend. The majority of those are community-led events, offering people the chance to get out there, have fun, get fit, test themselves and be involved in their community.

That's why, when I am waking up at 3am on event day. Dragging 50kg displays to my car, setting up in the pitch black darkness, dealing with the rain & the wind, it's all worth it.

I love it. I do.

In a world of social media, AI, short-form video and video calls, community running events need to be protected and supported.

Make sure you hit up a few local running events this year if you hadn't already planned to. Here's a few in Aus for the month of Feb.

If you're at the Run For Respect this Sunday, make sure you come say G'day!
